Petitions to the Crown Lands
Dept. re: VanValkenburgs
This second major set of Land Petitions,
"Petitions to the Crown Lands Department 1827 to 1904"
(Library & Archives Canada RG-C-I-1 is now RG 1-54), and
unlike the Upper-and-Lower Canada Land Petitions, this collection
is not yet available online.

Using a Finding Aid with a range of surnames,
all V surnames were found on MS 691 Reel 65 at the Ontario
Archives. A later search found more VV women under their
married names. See bottom for all surnames searched (not
just VV, Follick, Vollick).

Jan. 2014 - Petitions to Crown Lands Department - 2nd research trip at
Ontario Archives, to search for the following surnames (and many
potential spellings):
Brooks
Card / Caird
Conant / Conat, etc.
Davis
Diamond / Dimond
Follick / Folick, Follack, Folluck etc.
Garrison / Garison, Gerrison etc.
Jenkins
Lake
Mattis / Mattice
McConnell
Outwater / (Atwater not checked)
Peters
Phoenix / Phenix (Fenix not checked)
Sears / (Cyr not checked)
Palmateer / Palmatier
Van
Vollick / Volick, Vollack, Volluck etc.
Wright
I did see some surnames above but not for those related to the VV
branches. i.e. Garison, Brooks, Dimonds. No more VV's, Vans,
Vollicks or Follicks.
These petitions, in general, were concerned with lot boundary issues,
patents that had not been filed properly in the past, uninhabited lots
who were now occupied by squatters, some military land grants that were
not proceding, and groups applying for land for
churches/schools.
