| CENSUS - 1817 "Circa 1817" - Thaddeus Davis Sen., Cornelius VV, Vandenburgh families at Allanburgh. Thorold Twp., Welland Co., Ontario, Canada
The Thorold Township Minute Book (1799-1842) is a collection of censuses, assessment rolls, etc. many of them undated. The "1817 Census Thorold Township" and "1817 Assessment" are stated to be "circa" 1817 but historians feel they could have been recorded as early as 1815 and as late as 1818.

Shows St. Peter's Anglican cemetery and Munn's United Cemetery, and the VV relatives on their lots along Dundas St. From east to west: Ira VV, Eleanor (Conover) widow of Moses Teeter and George Phoenix, Samuel Conover husband of Lovina VV, Abraham & George Phoenix (Fenix). The VV's in this area started out as members of the Anglican church, as it was the only church available, but most converted to Methodism. |

Original land grants to Cornelius VV and Lois Davis-VV were: Con 1 SDS Lot 7, Con 1 NDS Lot 23 and Con 1 SDS Lot 17. Sons John, Hiram and Ira recorded on these lots and others until about 1860 when they had moved elsewhere.
