[Ancestry transcribes surname as LOUZACE. Charles Lauzau is enumerated twice in 1851. On page 2 of this Brant Co. census, Charles states his usual residence as "Wellington Square" (Nelson Twp., Halton Co.). Here enumerated with his children, and his mother Catharine St. Germain-Lauzau who cares for the children while Charles is living/working away. This part of Brantford Twp. is the east side of the village of Brantford at a convergence of rail and roads that by 1858 is known as Cainsville. In this community also lives the Asa P. Smith family whose son Adolphus Smith will marry Jane Lauzau.]
[And on the preceding page, Jane LEAUZEAU living with a Peter Westbrook family and next door to the Cain family for whom the village will be named.
