    MARRIAGE - Albert Garret--Bessie Vann-1905
19 Jul 1905 at Haldimand Co.

Note she gives her parents' names as Wm. Vann and Jessie Glover, and this is the same mother named in records of sister May Stured-McPhail.

1912 - Bessie crosses to Detroit Michigan under name Bessie Garrett b. 1889 Waterford, Ontario, but gives marital status as single.

Bessie remarried Dan McLellan after 1917 (Dan was still single on military and immigration records at 1917).
    MARRIAGE - Frank McPhail--May Stured-1904
    MARRIAGE - Frank McPhail--May Stured-1904
15 Nov 1904 at Elgin Co.

Note: May's parents stated to be Harvey Stured and Jennie Glover. By records, May and sister Bessie Vann share the same mother: Jessie Glover-Stured/Steward. This may be a case of a widowed Jess/nnie having one child with William Vann, and Vann adopting an earlier child of Jessie's by Harvey Steward?

    Census Records
1871 & 1881 Census showing Samantha Jane Hewett living with the Darius Glover household, Windham Twp., Norfolk Co.
1871 & 1881 Census showing Samantha Jane Hewett living with the Darius Glover household, Windham Twp., Norfolk Co.

Samantha Jane Hewett, according to her marriage record, was the daughter of a William and Mary Hewitt of Norfolk Co. Her children by husband William Vann knew her as Jane Hewitt, and her grave has her name as Jane. The oldest of the Vann siblings, on various records have given their mother's maiden name to be Glover and/or Utter.

It is interesting to see this Samantha Hewitt on the 1871 and 1881 censuses living with a Darius Glover household in the same area of Windham Twp. where she is buried (Vanessa). It seems she was raised by this (childless) couple - Darius Glover and Harriet Smith, along with two Utter children who were nephews of the Glovers.

Perhaps Samantha Jane Hewitt and Jennie Glover and Jeanette Utter are a single individual??
