VanVolkenburg, Adam: Petition to the Crown Lands Department, 1850

Adam VanVolkenburg, mason, of Woodstock in Oxford Co. in 1850 petitions to locate his free grant of land for service in the War of 1812. These documents confirm Adam's participation in the Addington Flank Militia, and his origins in Eastern Ontario.

In addition to evidence of military service (see also Adam's name on the Addington militia paylists), this particular document is important as it is signed by Adam's son John D. VanValkenburg.
