Civil War service record of William Lake, as described in Kansas Grand Army of the Republic veteran's rosters, 1886 and 1891.

William Lake, born Canada, served in the 64th Illinois Infantry (Union), residing 1886 at Fowler, Douglas Co., Kansas, a farmer. Five years later he is in Oak Hill near Clay Center, Clay Co. Kansas, with occupation: "doctor". Enlisted with rank "Private", he served as "hospital steward" in the conflict, which seems consistent with his later occupation.
