VV family in the Austin Dam Disaster, 1911, Austin, Potter Co., PA

At the 1910 census, Mary Barnes-VV and daughter Anna were living in the town of Austin, Pennsylvania. According to both the 1900 and 1910 census records, their specific address was on Elliot St., a frame house.

Unexpectedly and without warning on the 30th September, 1911, the dam above the town failed catastrophically. The water, combined with burning fuel atop the surge, caused an estimated 150 deaths.

Had Mary and Anna perished?

UPDATE: In the newspaper in her hometown in Ohio, was reported that Mary was indeed present in Austin on the day, and did survive the flood. In this brief coverage, nothing was mentioned of daughter Anna.
