  John Diamond VanValkenburg, undated tin-type photo John was the oldest son of Adam VanValkenburg and Anna Diamond. John was a Cooper by trade and worked for Thomas J. Clarke in Woodstock. He was married to Flora Lauzau in the Mohawk Parsonage in Brantford before moving to Woodstock prior to 1850.

  		DEATH REGISTER - John Diamond VanValkenburg-July 16, 1880 The Death Register from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woodstock, Ontario John's wife Flora(Lauzau) passed away in 1907. Both were buried from St. Mary's Church. The church was built in the 19th century and is being demolished to make way for a retirement home. The attached cemetery was relocated in 1934 and many records are missing or incorrect. John and Flora's graves cannot be located.

  		The sale of the Sombra Township property, John and Flora John and Flora VanValkenburg's sale of the Sombra Twp property to George Miler. Here, John Diamond VanValkenburg is named as the oldest son of Ann Diamond, the patentee of the property. This was the awarded Land Grant to Anna Diamond,DUE that she was granted in 1830.

Shows the approximate locations of various VV addresses on Dundas St. The circle at Mill and Queen Streets - one of these corners was the Thomas J. Clarke Barrel & Stave Co. Another circle shows the Roman Catholic church and first burial place of (at least) Flora VV before the cemetery was moved in the 1930's. See the post-1880 list of VV addresses here. (I am posting this on the 33rd anniversary of the F4 tornado that devastated much of this industrial and business area).
