Histories
|
| VV names in two directories for Northumberland Co., Ontario - 1865 and 1870.
Shows VV / Vollicks in the following townships: Brighton, Campbellford & Emily, Seymour. An 1885 directory was consulted but not copied as it showed only one: Oscar Vollick, shoemaker, in Marmora, Hastings Co.
David VV, (who incidentally was also a shoemaker), wrote a will out of *Cramahe* Twp. in 1846 describing his holdings at Lots 4 and 5 in the 4th Concession. By the 1870's, that part of Cramahe Twp. just north-west of the village of Brighton, was incorporated into Brighton Twp., so he is the "D." VV in these directories. On censuses he was actually a resident of Brighton village - maybe he had his shoemaker shop there.
Note the proximity of an "S.D." VV living very near to David at Con 3 Lot 3. Is this Sylvester Ducklin VV?
